Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship


The Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship was established in 2015 with the vision of creating a sustainable entrepreneurial eco-system in the country driven by the innovation and creativity of local entrepreneurs. Its mission is to create young leaders in the society who will be able to solve the social problems or fulfil the needs and wants of their targeted people. It also aims at providing students a platform to develop relevant entrepreneurial skills through practical assignment and project work and elevating the growth of new ventures through continuous mentoring and funding supported by venture capitals, angel investors, entrepreneurship development fund and other seed funds. The department promotes the culture through values such as entrepreneurial spirit, growth mindset, risk-taking, creativity, learning by doing, managing change and leading for results.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Entrepreneurship focuses on identifying the behavioral disposition and developing the skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are people who identify, develop and exploit new business opportunities. They are a vital ingredient in the process of economic growth of a country. Creating and developing a reservoir of attitudinally appropriate and positive entrepreneurs in a society is very essential for that society. A group of successful entrepreneurs is a competitive advantage for a country in the
world economic scenario. The history of economically developed countries very truly supports this view. A career as an entrepreneur can be both challenging and rewarding.

Entrepreneurs are most commonly associated with identifying new business opportunities and then building their own business ventures (notable examples include Steve Jobs with Apple, Bill Gates with Microsoft, Samuel Walton with Wal-Mart and Richard Branson with Virgin). Business planning and business topics among others are important features of this specialization.

Program Aims

This degree program is directed towards providing a wide variety of knowledge about all aspects of entrepreneurship. Besides, this course provides a broad and flexible educational preparation for a range of professionals to business-related careers in private and public enterprises.

A bachelor’s degree is a post-higher secondary degree awarded after completed 126 credits. It usually takes twelve semesters to complete a Bachelor’s degree. While completing an undergraduate course, candidates have to study general courses and chose a major specific subject. A Bachelor’s degree can also be called a baccalaureate in certain countries.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship will be able to define their own job or to work for diverse business organizations. This is because the degree has the purpose of providing students the knowledge to create their own company and products. And it does this by teaching the required skills such as marketing, finance, accounting or the basics of business management.

Program Aims

Its specific aims are to provide students with:

  • General knowledge, understanding skills and attitudes to facilitate career as an entrepreneur
  • The opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in at least one business-related professional field (including business economics, entrepreneurship, human resource management, international business, management, and marketing)
  • Scope for studies beyond business to broaden their overall educational experience.
  • To build up an Incubator for breeding Entrepreneurs who will add themselves
    to the reservoir of Entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.

Learning Outcomes

Its specific aims are to provide students with:

  • be equipped with the knowledge of building the enterprises, successfully running the enterprises and achieving the growth of the enterprises one built.
  • demonstrate an appreciation of the broad environment in which business operates
  • contribute effectively to the successful operation of a business, particularly in the area of their chosen specialization
  • apply analytical skills, relevant theory and logical thought to decision making processes within a business
  • communicate effectively in a business environment, both verbally and in writing
  • demonstrate the commitment to ethical and socially responsible business practice
  • demonstrate a good understanding of theory and practice in their chosen specialization
  • apply specialist skills to analyze issues and develop appropriate reports or other documentation relevant to the area of specialization which will result in a successful business venture
